Northern Plains Tribal Tobacco Technical Assistance Center (NPTTTAC)
The Northern Plains Tribal Tobacco Technical Assistance Center (NPTTTAC) is funded through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and provides technical assistance, education and training. NPTTTAC works collaboratively with national and state tobacco prevention programs and the South Dakota QuitLine.
NPTTTAC monitors commercial tobacco use, promotes prevention policies and facilitates the Sacred Life and Cansasa (which means Red Willow in Lakota) coalitions. Other activities include education and training for quit efforts, tobacco taxes, train the trainers for tobacco use interventions, and implementation of the American Indian Adult and Youth Tobacco Assessments.
NPTTTAC’s values honor the difference between sacred and commercial tobacco.
